Following the electrifying success of July’s Play Sobering Fashion Mixer, Power Play Energy Drink and The Sobering Podcast are turning the spotlight to one of the most influential forces of our time: content. The next installment in their groundbreaking industry conversation series, the Play Sobering Content Mixer, will take place on 25 September 2025 at Langhams in Fourways.
The July edition left a lasting mark on the local fashion industry. Heavyweights like Nomuzi Mabena (artist and Creative Director at Era by DJ Zinhle), Anya Potgieter (Lecturer at STADIO), Ntsika Tyatya (Culture & Communications Lead at MAXHOSA Africa), and Thatiso Dube (Founder & Head Designer of GALXBOY) shared powerful insights into creativity, hustle, and the future of South African fashion. Beyond the conversation, the event proved the strength of collaboration, community, and storytelling within the fashion space.
Now, the dialogue shifts to content—a driving force behind how culture is created, consumed, and monetized. From traditional platforms like television, radio, and film, to the ever-evolving world of digital media, podcasts, and influencers, the Play Sobering Content Mixer will unpack the ways content is shaping identity, sparking cultural conversations, and opening opportunities for South African creatives.
“Power Play is proud to continue with the Play Sobering Mixer series, creating spaces where creativity and culture intersect,” says Sindi Thwala , Power Play Marketing Manager. “Each Mixer builds on the last, and we’re excited to see the Content Mixer spark new conversations that allow the industry to learn from each other, and to find ways to support and grow together.”
For Kabelo “Fratpacker” Moremi of The Sobering Podcast, this edition carries a personal significance:
“As a podcaster and a creative, I know how important content has become in shaping how we see ourselves, tell our stories, and connect with audiences. This Mixer is going to open up the conversation around content in all its forms, and I’m really looking forward to hearing different perspectives from across the industry.”
The Play Sobering Content Mixer will feature a powerhouse panel: Sibu Mabena, Thabang Moleya, Siya “Scoop” Makhathini, JR Ecko, and George “Okay Wasabi” Mnguni, joining Kabelo “Fratpacker” Moremi in what promises to be a vibrant, thought-provoking exchange.
Set against the energy of Johannesburg’s creative scene, the evening promises sharp insights, meaningful networking, and a celebration of South Africa’s storytelling power.
